Your pension scheme is a valuable part of your pay and reward package which enables you to save for your future. Not only could you make significant tax savings on the amount you contribute each month, all of the schemes carry a death in service benefit as standard and a provision for widows, partners and dependant children's pensions.

If you’re not already a member of one of the following pension schemes offered by NTU, you may wish to consider joining:

  • Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) – if you work in a professional, support or research role
  • Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) – if you are an academic
  • Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) – membership is restricted to new academic staff who are already a scheme member when they join the University

All pensions are defined benefits schemes and whilst most individuals will have been enrolled automatically, you are eligible to join or re-join if you have previously opted out. NTU will also pay an employer contribution designed to ensure that current and future pension liabilities are appropriately funded.

If you would like more information about joining one of the pension schemes, please contact Payroll Services via email.
